Trumpeter Swans
know nothing of
white privilege
White is what they are
down under and above
the down
Except for beaks
as black as ebony
on ivory
Their trumpet calls
are not the honks
of honky privilege
Proud cobs and pens
teach their cygnets
that down is up
With no guile or sneer
at loons and redwing
blackbirds
Ebony and ivory
nesting on the marsh
they share
Beyond the gates
where honkies honk
of privilege

Brilliance! The title stands alone… just as the english language was meant to be understood, without the deliberate digs, and derogatory needs. If I read your work in a different direction,I simply read as beautiful! Wah-la π I appreciate your unique style of writing

You’re very welcome! Being this is the internet, I tend to keep my private life just that, and protect those who I love and care dearly about… I share a little in between the lines of my poetry about myself. My living isn’t always about me, but do make small appearances in my writing. π But, I can tell you this…I am Friendly! And generous, and care very much about people! I took a leap of faith 10 years ago and landed in the middle of a dream come true. I have been writing for many years, and I have created two books of my(poetry and photography) own for friends. I have a publisher finally through a beautiful friend of my son’s. Hatred alarms me terribly because it is so unnecessary . I understand where a lot of it stems from, but lack of control, fans that fire! Ok, now your turn! π
