What might Winston Churchill say about climate change and the prognosis of climate departure around 2020?
“So they go on in strange paradox, decided only to be undecided, resolved to be irresolute, adamant for drift, solid for fluidity, all-powerful to be impotent… Owing to past neglect, in the face of the plainest warnings, we have entered upon a period of danger. The era of procrastination, of half measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays, is coming to its close. In its place we are now entering a period of consequences…. We cannot avoid this period, we are in it now…”
– Winston Churchill, November 12, 1936

Indeed. The time is now. Closed eyes can’t see. Numb hearts can’t feel. Indoctrinated brains can’t think. That’s why what we’re about. It’s not about “bad” people; it’s about hearts turned to stone by fear.

Yes… and when we fear that our basic needs will not be met, or when we/I have yet to learn that we/I are not/am not the center of the universe. Faith is courage, said Paul Tillich, “the courage to be.”

And we live in an era, where we are also encouraged so much to be the self-centered consumer – and provide for our own needs.. financial planners are a good example – where we are discouraged from helping the younger generations – what used to be the basis of what family was all about…… instead of this cut them loose – even pack animal families take care of each other – For example, me and my daughter – I often get praise for being involved in her care — many people will not in the same circumstance.
It bothers me.
