Verse – dream of dancing

loving parents but the way they
read the bible meant no dancing

on my own after college I
took lessons to please my new wife

i was never good but had fun
for years moving with the music

now my knees and back restrict me
to a slow shuffle and a sigh

but in my sleep i leap and fly

About Gordon C. Stewart

I've always liked quiet. And, like most people, I've experienced the world's madness. "Be Still! Departure from Collective Madness" (Wipf and Stock Publishers, Jan. 2017) distills 47 years of experiencing stillness and madness as a campus minister and Presbyterian pastor (IL, WI, NY, OH, and MN), poverty criminal law firm executive director, and social commentator. Our cat Lady Barclay reminds me to calm down and be much more still than I would be without her.

  1. This reminds me of a cartoon or two I have seen, I think one female, one mael, of an older person shuffling along with cane or walker, but their shadow on the wall is of them young and dancing along arms in air and joyful in deportment. I smile every time I see one.
