We pledge allegiance to the earth
that sustains humanity,
and to the land, air, water, and sun
on which our future rests:
one fragile creation
in our hands to preserve and protect,
with equality, freedom, justice,
and peace for all

Wonderful. So idealistic. My brain made an amazing jump from there to the rather less idealistic idea of somehow forcing each member of Congress that assists big oil with tax breaks, and lax regulations poorly enforced to listen to a recording installed in a tooth or something of James Earl Jones reciting this over and over 24 hours a day until they really “get it.”

Remember the Trappist monks who used placards to “sing” the Hallelujah Chorus with their signs? Maybe we should amend the constitutions so that the silent monks open every session of Congress. I like the idea of the tooth implant better though ’cause they could never get away from it. =:)

Perhaps we should work this in to one of the Dialogues?

Yes. I know a neat couple who are going to lead the March Dialogue. I’ll consult with them.

A thought just struck me – When we think we own a piece of something our vision tends to become the size of that piece of ground. When we know we are dependent on and made of the larger whole, only then can we comprehend the need to take care of it. We are ALL in it together.
But how many can think or comprehend on that large a scale?

Yes, we are trained by saturation to conceive of life as a series of possessions and, by extension. to think of one’s own life and stuff as property.
