Romney-Ryan: Day One

“Romney announced his selection in dramatic fashion Saturday morning, with each
man stepping down the deck of the USS Wisconsin — a World War II-era battle ship
named for Ryan’s home state — to the soundtrack of the movie ‘Air Force One.’

Romney, Ryan, and the U.S.S. Wisconsin

World War II? A battleship? Doesn’t that say it all? “Air Force One” – a film about a President who defeats a terrorist (Obama, perhaps?). Makes a grown man want to cry!

  1. OK. Here’s a place for me to say it. I listen to people who claim they should not have to pay money/taxes to support that which runs counter to their religious convictions (e.g. birth control). If that’s the reasoning, then I, whose religious convictions totally abhor war and violence as a solver of problems, am being abused by so much of my money going to war and the development of weapons of war. To be complete, however, I would like to see much more of my tax money devoted to real care for our veterans and whatever it takes to keep the promises we made to them when they enlisted. No, I am not impressed by the appeal to the glory of war. More than that, it hurts my stomach.

  2. The only thing we can do is everything we can to elect the far from perfect (in real peace- making, and environmental matters), but still better than Romney/Ryan, Obama. In the vernacular, and slightly profane: Romney/Ryan, the team from hell. I so wish that I could vote for Rocky Anderson of the justice party, or whoever is running from the Green Party, but that’s not an option in this election.

    • Carolyn, It’s difficult, isn’t it? I don’t know Rocky Anderson of the Justice Party. I agree that to vote for a candidate for President other than the two major party candidates would be a mistake. Every vote will count in this election.
