Verse: “Christian blood is semen.”- Tertullian (180-225 A.D.)
– Steve Shoemaker, Urbana, IL, July 29, 2012
Terrible-tempered ,
Ever-
Ready
To
Use his
Lively
Legal mind
In defense of
Attacks on the faith,
Nasty
…
To all,
Even friends,
Respected
Though for
Urging the
Lord’s followers to
Live faithfully
In spite of the
Authorities’
Never-ending executions.
Tertullian was an “Early Church Father” whose works are required reading in most seminary or graduate school courses in Patristics. The title knocked me for a loop. The poem is clever in more ways than one.
Thanks for a little bit of education on this Sunday evening. I now know a couple of new words.

Thanks, Sparks, the title, as you know, is a quotation from Tertullian. The killing circus ring became the spawning ground of Tertullian’s own faith.
Thanks again for sharing. Which are the “new word” for you?

The new words were, Tertullian, (a person I’d never heard of before) and patristics.
